A Sign of the Times

So I was walking down the hall at work today, hitting up the vending machine for a mid-afternoon shot of caffeine.  This part of the floor is fairly remote as the business offices nearby are empty for whatever reason.  A young girl (mid-20’s – that’s young to me) was on the cellphone, having one of ‘those discussions’.  So of course, I listened in as I went about my errand.

She was arguing, and it quickly became apparent with whom;  Here’s a quote from what I heard;

No you won’t.  NO YOU WON’T!  I’ll do it, but then you won’t!  I know you & you’ll say you’ll do it but you won’t.

Ok, so now I’m intrigued.  But there was more;

I swear, I’ll change my status to say ‘in a relationship’ right after lunch.  But you won’t.  I know you, you won’t change yours.

So if you can’t even agree to announce your status together on Facebook, is not your relationship already DOOMED??  Whatever happened to just getting a cheap necklace or something. . . ‘going steady’.  Do people still do that?

I’m a dinosaur. . .

    Michelle sat on the ‘Are you married to Chris’ confirmation in Facebook while she decided if she wanted to be more than just Facebook friends with me.

    I did see a old coworker change his status to “not married” shortly after the birth of their first child. I’ve been afraid to ask about it. I’m hoping he just accidentally changed it and didn’t notice or maybe his wife dropped off of Facebook. It would suck to get divorced within months of your first kid being born.

    That would be awkward. And yes, it’s sad to see parents of newborns divorce. The kid had no chance at a ‘normal’ family w/his biologicals.

    It’s also amazing to me the ability to stalk someone off of Facebook, even if you don’t really mean to. Some folks put some pretty damn personal items in the Status updates.

    Me, I usually just make shit up. ;>

  3. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and everything. Nevertheless just imagine if you added some great photos or videos to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and clips, this blog could definitely be one of the very best in its field. Fantastic blog!
