But what’s with this press photo?  Everybody in the band is chillin’ with a brew, probably after a hard day spent recording, drinking, recording themselves drinking, thinking of reasons to be pissed off, writing lyrics about being pissed off, drinking  – you know, the usual shit for a Death metal band.  Everyone’s relaxing now. . .  except for workaholic Danny Tunker who can’t be bothered to put his guitar down even for a minute.  “Got to lay down one more track” he says flashing the devil horns and plinking off 1043 notes before anyone can breath.  Ok, so that’s how I imagined the conversation.  In reality, he’s probably afraid someone will steal his guitar if he sits it down.  Guitarists are like that sometimes.

But ole’ Danny has a bigger problem, ’cause there’s someone in his band with a waaaay cooler name than his.  A name that makes a bold statement, it just says – with a voice all it’s own  “Fuck you, I’m a rock star”.  I’m talking about the bassist (Far right in the photo), one Mr. Otto Schimmelpenninck.

See, I’m right.  Now YOU’RE jealous TOO and you ain’t even in the band!

This bunch of happy-go-lucky guys is a group called Sanctification. They’re out of Sweden & you can listen to tracks from their forthcoming CD ‘Black Reign’ on Myspace HERE. Good stuff that sounds like maybe somebody has been listening to a few Morbid Angel or Behemoth albums. Guest vocals include Peter Tägtgren & Emperor Magus Caligula, so they do have some pedigree as well.

But this pic. . . well, I just can’t help but be reminded of the episode of ‘Lost in Space’ when the android superman IDAK Alpha 12 was walking around shouting ‘Crush, Kill, DESTROY!’. Ok, that was back in 1965 so maybe you weren’t around (I was less then 1, so I had to see that episode as a rerun too!).

Anyhow, maybe not the best publicity photo to be taken seriously with, but that could just be me.

Signs that you MAY have a drinking problem – #107) inability to put down a beer even for a promo picture of your band.  Well, I guess if I knew that my lead singers’ big-ass head was not gonna leave any room for my mug, I might not bother either.
